At the University we have a long-standing commitment to equality diversity and inclusion (EDI) and hold EDI as one of our core line with continuing to deliver on our EDI commitments an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to join our team of EDI professionals as our Diversity Data Analyst.
Based within People Services as Diversity Data Analyst you will report into the Head of EDI and have responsibility for data analysis and reporting to ensure we meet our statutory reporting requirements support our EDI charter mark submissions and the delivery of the Universitys EDI strategy.
In order to be successful you should be highly experienced in handling large data volumes with a critical thinking analytically tuned mindset along with proven ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders and articulate clearly the analysis of data. You should have demonstrable experience of working collaboratively across teams and departments with both expertise and attention to detail to ensure data is presented with accuracy for purposes such as strategic planning and detailed annual reporting.

Key Accountabilities
- Carry out reporting and statistical analysis of diversity data providing actionable insights to support University to meet its statutory EDI reporting requirements and the requirements of our EDI charter mark activities (e.g. Athena Swan Race Equality Charter -rec).
- Identify capture and utilise diversity data to inform and evolve the Universitys EDI strategy and action plans identifying key areas of focus as they emerge.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues on diversity data to support carrying out equality analysis conducting data analysis on their behalf where deemed appropriate.
- Work with key stakeholders to review existing practices and better understand EDI data requirements with a view to developing a range of protocols and reports that ensure we can efficiently meet the requirements of stakeholders in a structured manner.
- Work with colleagues in EDI and Organisational Development to understand EDI survey data requirements and contribute to the development and analysis of an integrated culture survey.
- Ensure requests for the analysis and reporting of EDI data are done so with a high degree of accuracy and in line with information compliance protocols.
- Consult with EDI Networks and wider-University community to ensure our EDI data collection categories are fully inclusive and meet the needs of both our University community and statutory reporting requirements (e.g. HESA HMRC).
- Develop and coordinate campaigns to support disclosure and to enhance our colleague EDI data.
- Where required and deemed appropriate support the analysis and reporting of data relating to requests from the wider People Engagement and Culture section of People Services.
- Working with People Services and Business Intelligence colleagues contribute to the development of our people systems via the My NU platform including the further development of our Colleague data dashboard.
- Carry out data analysis and reporting to support sector-wide EDI benchmarking exercises.
- When required coordinate responses to requests for diversity data from external sources (e.g. Freedom of Information requests Higher Education Statistics Agency - HESA Universities and Colleges Employers Association - UCEA).
- Assist in the delivery of training to colleagues to better understand and analyse EDI data sets.
- The post will report into the Head of EDI and work closely/liaise with key senior stakeholders. The post will also work with a range of academic and Professional Services colleagues that contribute to the active progression of the overall EDI agenda and the delivery of the Universitys EDI strategy.
The Person (Essential)
Knowledge Skills and Experience
- Experience of collating analysing and reporting on colleague and/or student diversity data.
- Experience of providing relevant data advice to senior colleagues.
- Ability to assimilate large amounts of information and distil important insights to inform practice.
- Strong data collection and analysis skills ability to use metrics and data to support critical thinking and service improvement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to engage colleagues at all levels and respond sensitively to a range of views.
- Attention to detail highly numerate and analytical.
- Ability to present complex data in a manner that is appropriate to range of stakeholders with varying degrees of data literacy.
- Experience of managing confidential information and a working knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations requirements
- In depth working knowledge and experience of using relevant software packages (e.g. Excel SPSS) to analyse statistical data and produce management information reports (e.g. via Word).
- An understanding and/or experience of analysing and reporting on diversity data in relation to EDI (e.g. Athena Swan REC) or other appropriate charter marks would be advantageous (desirable).

- Knowledge and understanding of EDI legislation and good practice would be advantageous (desirable).
