Job Description

Minimum requirements:

  • 3year BSc or BCom with Actuarial majors
  • Honours is an advantage
  • Member of Actuarial Society of South Africa / Member of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
  • At least 6 exemptions / actuarial exam passes
  • Knowledge of statistics.
  • Understanding of insurance business principles.
  • Understanding of balance sheet structures and capital implications.
  • Knowledge of actuarial processes and control cycle (reserving capital modelling).
  • Knowledge of the insurance industry and insurance products.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 and/or IFRS 4.
  • Knowledge of the product development process.

Technical Competencies:

  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
  • Specialist actuarial software package skills
  • SAS statistical package (preferred) SQL (preferred).
  • Actuarial processes and control cycle skills
  • Reserving
  • Capital modelling
  • Analytical skills

Responsibilities:

  • To assist with the full implementation of IFRS 17 within Standard Insurance Limited.
  • In particular to assist with the data preparation and transformation for IFRS 17 purposes.
  • To perform monthly calculations of IFRS 17.
  • To perform investigations relating to IFRS 17 reports.
