Role Overview:
We are seeking a Senior SAP MDM Consultant with extensive S/4HANA experience to join a highimpact global rollout project. This is a key leadership role responsible for designing and executing master data strategies across multiple business units and geographies. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in SAP MDM and MDG strong S/4HANA implementation experience and the ability to work closely with global teams to ensure consistency compliance and quality of data throughout the transformation lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Master Data Management workstream in a global S/4HANA implementation.
- Design and implement endtoend MDM and MDG strategies aligned with enterprise standards.
- Collaborate with business and functional teams to define data governance data quality and data ownership frameworks.
- Define and enforce global data standards data models and workflows.
- Manage the migration of master data objects (e.g. customer vendor material finance) into S/4HANA.
- Drive data cleansing enrichment and validation activities.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Provide leadership on best practices for data governance and S/4HANA MDM integration.
- Lead workshops training sessions and documentation efforts.
Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
- 3 years of experience in SAP with at least 2 years in SAP MDM/MDG.
- Proven experience delivering SAP S/4HANA global implementations ideally full lifecycle.
- Deep understanding of SAP master data objects (Material Customer Vendor BP etc.) in an S/4HANA context.
- Strong handson experience with SAP MDG (Master Data Governance).
- Excellent knowledge of data governance frameworks data quality management and data migration methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience working in a global multicultural project environment.
- Ability to lead teams and mentor junior consultants.
- Based in or able to work in and around Cape Town (onsite presence required at times).
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP S/4HANA certification.
- Experience with SAP Data Services and SAP LTMC/LTMOM tools.
- Background in global companies or largescale transformation programs.
- Experience with Agile or hybrid project methodologies.

Educational Qualifications: Bachelor s degree in business, Analytics, IT, or a related field. Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience in analytics, business-IT liaison roles, or a similar field. Proven experience in data management, data governance, and project management. Technical Skills: Proficiency in Business Intelligence (BI) tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, QlikView). Strong knowledge of data processes, data modeling, and predictive analytics. Expertise in data governance and ensuring data quality standards. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and IT infrastructure for hosting and managing data environments. Financial Management: Experience managing Capex and Opex for analytics projects. Strong skills in reviewing vendor proposals, managing cost-effective solutions, and assessing quotes. Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to oversee analytics projects from demand management through to delivery. Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall). Business & Stakeholder Engagement: Ability to engage with senior stakeholders, such as Managing Directors and Functional Directors, to drive analytics initiatives. Experience in stakeholder engagement and managing cross-functional teams to align analytics with business objectives. Data Literacy & Adoption: Ability to drive data literacy programs and advocate for the adoption of data assets across business. Experience in identifying competency gaps and organizing relevant training or learning sessions. Governance & Compliance: Strong understanding of data governance policies and practices. Ability to conduct access reviews, manage data access permissions, and ensure compliance with organizational policies and external regulations. Cross-Cultural Communication: Ability to work across diverse geographies and cultures, particularly in African markets. Understanding of the African business landscape, local market dynamics, and regulatory environments is a significant advantage. Soft Skills: Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) to simplify complex data concepts for non-technical stakeholders. Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving data integrity issues. Leadership and collaboration skills with the ability to lead teams, foster relationships, and engage effectively with both technical and business leaders.
