About the Role:
A company in the fashion events and beauty industry is looking for a commercial lawyer with experience in the luxury sector to provide comprehensive legal support across a wide range of business functions. This role is integral to ensuring legal compliance managing risk supporting internal and external stakeholders and overseeing the legal aspects of high-profile partnerships and campaigns.
Key Responsibilities:Legal Advisory & Risk Management- Provide general legal risk advice and mitigation strategies.
- Review and advise on media-related reputation management matters.
- Liaise with group legal and relevant committees on ongoing legal concerns.
- Manage disputes involving contractors contestants talent and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Contracts & Agreements- Draft review amend and negotiate a variety of agreements including:
- Production agreements
- Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
- Independent contractor agreements
- Broadcast agreements
- Licensing agreements
- Sponsorship agreements and related addendums
- Designer agreements
- Indemnities and release forms
- General NDAs
- General terms and conditions for event industry
- Draft T&Cs and privacy policies for digital platforms (website and app).
- Handle influencer and campaign agreement reviews and negotiations.
Operations Support- Prepare and update booking forms entry forms eligibility criteria FAQs and social media competition terms.
- Manage and brief contestants on documentation and legal obligations.
- Draft and manage contestant documentation such as:
- Finalist Agreements
- NDAs and Consent Forms
- Medical and Indemnity Forms
- Management Agreements
- Support ongoing legal correspondence with contestants.
Sponsorship & Stakeholder Management- Review and negotiate sponsorship deals (many active matters at a time).
- Monitor compliance with sponsorship obligations.
- Handle all sponsor communications relating to legal matters and risk.
- Interpret agreements and ensure compliance with obligations.
- Review venue deal sheets and manage conflict resolution as required.
Employment & Internal Legal Administration- Oversee internal legal admin including:
- Company resolutions and statutory changes
- BEE affidavits
- Support HR with employment policies and internal disputes.
Intellectual Property & Brand Protection- Manage IP portfolio generally
- Monitor IP infringements and social media misuse.
- Draft and issue cease and desist letters and letters of demand.
- Liaise with IP attorneys on trade mark filings and renewals.
- Draft and manage copyright assignment and ownership agreements.
Legal Operations & Support- Prepare detailed call sheets
- Support operational logistics for events and campaigns.
- Assist in contestant management logistics and documentation handling.
- Draft engagement letters and venue agreements as required.
