Job Description

We are looking for a Senior SAP ABAP Developer to play a critical technical and architectural role in supporting and enhancing SAP systems that drive global supply chain warehouse logistics and automotive parts sales processes.

You will be working within an Agile environment to deliver high-quality solutions aligned with business needs.

EXPERIENCE: 6-8 Years related working experience

COMMENCEMENT: 01 June 2025

Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of DevOps (operations configuration development) experience in commercial or retail end-user IT applications

  • Strong ABAP development skills with a proven track record as a competent ABAP programmer

  • Good knowledge of Object-Oriented Design paradigms

  • Familiarity with test-driven development methodologies and making code testable

  • Strong understanding of optimized data retrieval and code performance techniques

  • Good understanding of Agile methodology Confluence and JIRA

  • Exposure to SAP Solution Manager

  • Modern ABAP understanding (advantageous)

  • Exposure to SAP MM APO (advantageous)

  • Experience with SAP S/4 HANA (advantageous)

Essential Skills
  • Experience with SAP ABAP UI5 SAP Fiori S4Hana

  • SAP ABAP Certification

  • 6 years of practical project experience as a Senior Expert

  • Functional exposure to SAP logistics and planning modules

  • Strong problem-solving capabilities

  • Ability to work collaboratively within an Agile working methodology

  • Strong aptitude to understand and interpret business needs and translate them into technical concepts for successful implementation

  • Any additional responsibilities assigned in the Agile Working Model (AWM) Charter

Advantageous Skills
  • Technical architecture and quality assurance (code standard) capabilities or willingness to learn

  • Level 1 process integration knowledge across multiple SAP modules

  • Level 1 technical (including infrastructure) integration knowledge across multiple technologies

  • Ability to work independently and interdependently delivering high-quality on-time outputs

  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills effective verbal and written communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Willingness to engage with foreign customers and sensitivity to language and cultural differences

  • Strong work ethics (above board)

  • Willingness to work weekends/public holidays for implementation and IT support tasks

  • Flexibility to take on varied tasks within the project

  • Ability and willingness to coach and train colleagues and users

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally

Role
  • Based on a strong technical ABAP background play a technical solution architect role for all change requests

  • Mediate between developers and functional team members and will engage directly with product owner(s) and external partner feature team(s) for the respective projects/maintenance/operations requirements

  • Technical oversight of developments on SAP systems that run global business processes spanning the supply warehouse logistics and sales of automotive parts

  • Technical tasks will include but not be limited to:

    • Reviewing proposed solutions and code changes based on learned knowledge of existing system design and groups Global Development Guidelines

    • Making sure the development solution will align with the current technical functions of the system and will fit the overall architecture

    • Reviewing and approving the technical specifications

    • Reviewing development checking code quality against group standards

    • Reconfirming during the code review that the completed development meets the original requirement as explained by the functional expert

    • Development will also be required where the above tasks will be conducted by peers

  • The following will also be expected:

    • Reviewing & approving the functional specifications making sure that it is complete understandable and logically consistent from a development point of view

    • Attending all team meetings including Stand-ups Sprint Review Sprint Retrospectives Sprint Planning meetings.

    • Understanding the release management process and keeping track of the release schedule

    • Endeavour to understand the group SAP system landscape and be abreast of what changes are planned and how they will affect topics planned over a release

    • Go-live preparation and post Go-live support

    • Receiving troubleshooting resolving and closing Operational and Maintenance tickets within defined SLAs (Service Level Agreements)

    • Interact with consultants of other modules

    • Taking a proactive approach in the software development process

  • Go-Live preparation and post Go-Live Support

  • Change Management Manage changes and present to relevant CAB

  • Interaction with clients through meetings calls and emails

  • Receiving troubleshooting resolving and closing operational and maintenance tickets within SLAs

  • Update and maintain documentation as an existing systems functionality is changed

  • Taking a proactive approach in the software development/design process

  • Execution according to the Agile Methodology and attending all team meetings including Stand ups Sprint Review Sprint retrospectives Sprint Planning meetings.

  • Daily use of the Agile Tool Chain as per the updates required by the respective feature team(s)
