The Department of Earth Sciences is a small research-intensive unit within the Faculty of Science at Stellenbosch University (SU). We consist of 11 academic staff four administrative and support staff
and around ten postdoctoral fellows. We offer a comprehensive undergraduate programme and a postgraduate research programme with approximately 150-200 undergraduate and postgraduate
students enrolled at any given time.
Our research is highly collaborative involving partners at Stellenbosch University other South African and international universities and industry stakeholders. Our graduates typically find successful
employment in the national or international minerals and environmental sectors.
