Job Description
Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans instructional activities and individualized education programs (IEPs) for students.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students ensuring academic engagement and positive behavior reinforcement.
- Help create and maintain a safe inclusive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Support students with special needs by adapting learning materials and utilizing strategies recommended by the teacher or support staff.
- Supervise students in classrooms hallways lunchrooms and during transitions to ensure safety and appropriate behavior.
Requirements
- Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 Endorsement (Learning Behavior Specialist).
- Previous experience working in a school special education or youth support setting preferred.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students staff and parents.
- Ability to follow teacher-led instruction and adapt to various learning needs.
