POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to provide overall administration direction coordination and integration of the social work program in the assigned regions. The incumbent is responsible for providing administrative leadership in program planning development implementation supervision and evaluation on how social work may be integrated into community supervision planning aligning with the Division of Parole and Probation.
This position is responsible for supervising and traveling to the Baltimore and West regions (Counties included: Baltimore City Baltimore CountyAnne Arundel County Howard County Carroll County Frederick County Washington County Cumberland and Oakland) and requires Board-approved supervisor requirements to be completed.
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
- Manages a team of Social Worker Istaff and Represents the agency in public forums and Departmentevents
- Completes periodic evaluations of staff
- Identify training needs of subordinate staff
- Responsible for performing professional Social Work at the expert level
- Providing support and guidance to other Social Work staff and DPPstaff in routine and problem cases as applicable
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined by the State Board of Social Work Examiners under the licensing requirements for Social Workers.
Experience: Four years of experience providing clinical and therapeutic services through the application of the principles methods and procedures of professional social work to clients requiring rehabilitative counseling or forensic social work services including eighteen months of experience completing assessments formulating diagnostic impressions treating mental disorders and other conditions or providing psychotherapy as a certified social worker-clinical.
Notes:
1. A doctoral degree in social work from an accredited college or university may be substituted for up to one year of experience.
2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Work classifications or Social Work specialty codes in the Social Science Psychology or Welfare fields of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Employees in this classification must have a license as a Master Social Worker (approved for independent practice) Certified Social Worker or Certified Social Worker-Clinical issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Employees arerequired to meet mandatory standards for continuing education asdetermined by the hiring department. Employees who fail to obtain the requiredcontinuing education credits shall be subject to disciplinary actionincluding demotion suspension or dismissal.
2. Employeesmust complete an approved training program in group counselingtechniques.
3. Employeesmaybe required to complete the Level I Counseling course of the Maryland AIDSProfessional Education Center.
4. Employeesmust qualify for and successfully complete the Entry Level TrainingAcademy operated by the Police and Correctional Training Commissions.
5. Employeesarerequired to complete the Correctional First Line Supervisors Training withinone year of appointment.
