DescriptionFord Motor Company is looking to hire a Full-Time Final Assembly Vendor Interface Specialist (VIS) / Tooling Engineer for all New Model Programs. Job location will be split between the Tooling Vendors Facilities and Ford Offices in Dearborn. The Vendor Interface Specialist will work directly with the Tooling Suppliers in leading the Design Build Buyoff and Shipment of the Tooling Systems to the Plants.
ResponsibilitiesWhat youll do:
- Support / Lead Bi-weekly Management / Tier 1 supplier status meetings at assigned supplier facilities
- Utilize an Open Issues Matrix (OIM) for tracking design build and install issues with resolution timing
- Coordinate with the Implementation Team Plant Controls Safety and Ergo Team(s) to ensure that they are invited to relevant meetings receive meeting minutes and OIM matrix updates after each meeting
- Drive resolution of all RED issues to the Core Commodity and VIS supervisor(s). Escalate to management and support Leadership Escalation Meetings if required
- Interface with Advanced Feasibility team to ensure design inputs into required DVAs are accurate and use DVAs and other statistical tools to drive tooling design. Verify design inputs allow to build with required FTT JPH and capability
- Review the Tooling Scopes of Work (SOWs) and be involved with the Advanced Feasibility Tooling Vendor Quotation and Selection Process for awarding of Purchase Orders (POs)
- Ensure Implementation Plant Safety and Ergonomics Teams buy off on Final Tooling Designs before fabrication starts.
- Review Cycle Line and Tooling Layouts with Implementation and Plant teams to ensure tools are compatible with their environment.
- Interface with Controls Safety and Ergo teams to ensure Global Vehicle Operating System Standard (GVOSS) Safety and Ergonomics standards are met
- Ensure all tooling meets Program Implementation timingfor ship installation and commission prior to EPT.
- Ensure all tooling can meet JPH requirements. Drive accurate Man/Motion Charts from the tooling vendor
- Limit the tool buy off exceptions per agreed plan.
- Verify all tooling capability/repeatability meets CP/CPK targets
- Support the order and tracking of Vendor Tool Try-Out (VTTO) parts to ensure they are on time to support tool try out builds
- Verify that Ford to Furnish (FTF) assets are ordered and delivered on time to support tool delivery timing by tracking delivery of components
- Lead tooling buyoffs including completion of the buyoff books documentation and all signatures required
- Support the Implementation Team during installation
- Utilize historical FTT and warranty data to drive design improvementto Tooling Systems
- Ensure GVOSS Intent is followed for the application and drive GVOSS deviations from Lessons learned and or new technology applications.
- Investigate and vet new tooling technologies and vendors working with MTDC SMEs and Technical Specialist
QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
- BSc Engineering (Mechanical Industrial OR Electrical)
- At least five (5) years experience with Underbody/Upperbody Production Tooling Systems low and high-volume assembly processes and Assembly Production Facilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Data driven with good problem-solving and Project Management skills
- Exemplary written and oral communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Passion for innovation with manual semi-auto and fully automated tooling systems
- Knowledge of robotic automation and processes using vision systems
- Knowledge of Global Vehicle Operations Structures Standards (GVOSS) Teamcenter (TCE) PFMEA/MFMEA Safety Risk Assessments and Tooling Buyoffs
- Must support onsite meetings/buyoffs at Tooling Vendors
