Job Description

Radiation Therapist (Permanent Role)

Location: Waxahachie TX 75165
Shift: 8 HR Days 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: (40 hours/week)
Compensation: Based on experience (Negotiable)

Essential Functions:
  • Perform radiation therapy procedures with precision and care following prescribed protocols and physician instructions.
  • Utilize AIDET communication (Acknowledge Introduce Duration Explanation Thank You) to effectively engage with patients.
  • Identify and meet patient needs; establish rapport and maintain professionalism.
  • Educate patients and families about procedures and address any concerns.
  • Assess patients physical and emotional readiness for procedures.
  • Accurately position patients and adjust immobilization devices as needed.
  • Operate therapy equipment and adjust exposure settings as required.
  • Ensure radiation and infection safety protocols are strictly followed.
  • Maintain proper sterile techniques and hand hygiene in all procedures.
  • Perform equipment checks maintain cleanliness and report any issues to management.
  • Collaborate with engineers and physicists to ensure equipment functionality.
  • Monitor supply levels and assist in inventory control.
  • Screen all individuals entering the treatment area in compliance with safety protocols.
  • Accurately maintain patient documentation consent forms and imaging records.
  • Follow department procedures for timely interpretation and record-keeping.
Key Success Factors:
  • Strong knowledge of radiation therapy protocols and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High level of patient care and comfort in high-stress situations.
  • Capable of delivering emergency care (first aid and use of emergency cart).
  • Professional demeanor with a commitment to excellent customer service.
  • Actively seek and implement feedback to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated knowledge across all age demographics (newborn to geriatric).
  • Willingness to serve as a preceptor for new hires and team members.
Qualifications:

Certification/License:

  • ARRT-T Radiation Therapy Certification
    (Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy)
