Position Summary
Lehigh Valley Academy Regional Charter School is seeking a 5th Grade Teacher to join our Primary Years Programme (PYP) team. This role requires a teacher who can engage students in meaningful inquiry-based learning experiences while supporting their academic and personal growth as they prepare for the transition to middle school. The successful candidate will be confident working with students at a pivotal stage of development and comfortable navigating both structure and independence as students mature.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging inquiry-based lessons aligned with the PYP framework and Pennsylvania standards
- Support students in developing the organizational social and academic skills necessary for success in middle school
- Collaborate with grade-level and subject-area teams to create interdisciplinary units of inquiry
- Use assessment data to differentiate instruction and support student growth
- Create a structured respectful classroom environment that supports student voice responsibility and independence
- Maintain open and proactive communication with students families and colleagues
- Actively participate in professional development and contribute to a collaborative school culture
- Model and support the development of the IB Learner Profile attributes in students
Qualifications:
- Experience working collaboratively in a team teaching environment
- Ability to support students in developing executive functioning and interpersonal skills
- PA Elementary or Middle Years Certification preferred
- Experience with upper elementary or transitional-grade students
- Understanding of inquiry-based and concept-driven learning
