Community Cultural Broker *** Urgently Hiring

Salary: $19.23 (hourly) / Non-Exempt

Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Hybrid - Remote & Office / Field

*** Majority of our positions are remote but services are provided either hybrid or in person

SHIELDSmission is to develop deliver and evaluate culturally sensitive comprehensive service models that empower and advocate for high-risk families in South Los Angeles.

Summary

Providing Parents / Caregiver(s) with the skills to maintain a safe and nurturing home for the family. This is accomplished by a hands-on approach addressing issues of: resourcing (housing clothing food hygiene) cleanliness & organization of the home identifying any safety hazards in the home educating on nutrition meal preparation & storage budgeting etc. Services are typically provided in the home but may assist client in the community (SSI building housing building advocate for court and etc.).

Primary Duties

Depending on specific program assignment may perform any or all of the following:

  • Basic advocacy skills.
  • Present ideas information and viewpoints clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Efficiently use the computer to include a variety or word processing software researching resources.
  • Provide instruction on essential life skills such as cooking cleaning budgeting and household safety.
  • Assess Parent / caregiver / familys needs and interests and provide supportive services / resources as needed while regularly updating IHOC / Case Manage on case.
  • Engage family in resources meeting in the community at various community agencies court and etc.
  • Maintain accurate and current progress notes on all contacts outcomes and follow up plans. Progress notes and in-home visits forms must be submitted within 24 hours of the visit or contact.
  • Maintain client files reports and statistics per agency and funding requirements.
  • Attend weekly supervision training and meetings as assigned or required.
  • Works with SHIELDS staff to develop program objectives implementation strategies and evaluation criteria to refine and enhance service delivery.
  • Maintain and develop working relationships with local linkage and referral agencies.
  • Mandated Reporting CCBs are mandated reporters. If you suspect or observe abuse of any kind contact your programs Clinical Supervisor or Program Manager immediately to inform and consult for next steps.
  • Maintain caseload of 15 20.
  • Assist residents with housing resources (i.e. permanent transitional low income).
  • Report emergencies per agency protocol and ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

  • Demonstrate commitment to team objective and SHIELDS for Families philosophies.
  • Adapt to changing needs by acquiring new skills and knowledge
  • A valid California drivers license is required for this position as driving is an essential function of the role and is required for field work client crisis response and emergencies. Avalid car insurance and registration is required.
  • Provides services within a culturally sensitive ethnic informed model of practice and is respectful to the community and clients
  • COVID-19 vaccination required. May request medical or religious exemption if applicable.

These requirements are typically met by a combination of education at a high school Diploma level and experience in Social Services or related field preferred or lived experience. Skills also needed are:

  • Experience working with high-risk families.
  • Excellent phone etiquette.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word (Word Excel and Access)
  • Ability to work independently demonstrate flexibility and pay close attention to detail.
  • Experience with office procedures and equipment.
  • The employee in this position must be able to perform this job safely without endangering the health or safety of him/her or others.
