Job Description

Hourly Pay Range:

$18.84 - $27.32 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidates expertise and years of experience among other factors.

Position Highlights:
  • Patient Care Technician - Critical Care
  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital - Arlington Heights IL
  • Full time 36 hours/week
  • Hours: 6:00pm-6:30am Every other weekend
  • Required Travel: No

What you will do:

  • Assists patients with personal care needs including bathing grooming oral care eating use of bedpan or urinal positioning answering and responding to patient call lights bed making etc. under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
  • Assists with exercising and ambulating patient; utilizes correct body mechanics while assisting with patient mobility; maintains physical safety and comfort of patient under supervision of a RN/LPN.
  • Obtains patient vital signs input and output checks and accu-checks and reports abnormalities to the nurse. As directed by RN/LPN performs procedures such as EKGs perineal care emptying of foley bags application of restraints backrubs etc. Collects specimens such as urine feces sputum and delivers as necessary. Documents basic patient care into electronic medical record.
  • Assists nursing and clerical staff with admitting discharging transferring ambulating transporting and observing patients to ensure safety as directed. Adequately answers unit phones and can effectively direct phone calls to the appropriate parties. May perform duties of an Observation Assistant as needed.

What you will need:

  • The level of knowledge normally obtained through the completion of high school
  • Completion of an accredited CNA course and the successful completion of the CNA certification exam EMT or paramedics training course or current enrollment in an accredited nursing program with the completion of at least one major clinical medical or surgical rotation required
  • Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association
