Job Description

Overview

i3 is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our growing team in Huntsville AL.

Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with customer and read engineering drawings to produce unique precision parts to contribute to a variety of projects in an ever changing rapid paced R&D environment.
  • Set up install and operate machine tool equipment for fabrication operations (including but not limited to saws lathes drill presses mills and waterjets).
  • Set up and operate multi-purpose computerized numerically-controlled (CNC) machines to perform machining operations.
  • Program optimize and troubleshoot CNC toolpaths.
  • Fabricate steel and aluminum weldments.
  • Plan machine availability and outsourcing to optimize manufacturing lead times.
  • Works from drawings schematics diagrams written and verbal descriptions layouts or defined plans to fabricate and assemble parts and assemblies.
  • Perform operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment.
  • Assist in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions and manufacturability issues.
  • Assists in the design construction test and check-out of deliverable equipment.
  • Act as part of a team executing assembly of prototype and low-rate initial production systems and subassemblies.
  • Follow continuous improvement processes to ensure efficient assembly and enhancement of work instructions.
  • Attend test events and assist with setup teardown transportation and troubleshooting as required.
  • Contribute to status updates and support constructive communication within the team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field required. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
  • 12-20 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the use of hand tools measurement devices and power tools.
  • Experience using Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Existing DoD security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

  • Knowledge of office administration and procedures.

  • Excellent communication teamwork and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
