Job Description
Position: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Crescent City California
Pay Rate: $61.00 to $63.00 per hour
Schedule: Full-time 6 to 9-month contract (eligible for extension)
Requirements
- Minimum of 12 months of continuous direct patient care experience within the last 3 years in a public or private facility
- Up-to-date clinical competencies
- Valid government-issued photo ID (Drivers License or Passport)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- National or California-issued Recreational Therapist Certification

Key Responsibilities
- Communicate patient status changes to the Director of Recreational Therapy and the interdisciplinary care team
- Provide timely and relevant feedback regarding patient treatment responses and therapy goals
- Assess psychosocial leisure and recreation skill levels and deficiencies
- Ensure all documentation is completed in alignment with each patients plan of care
- Educate patients on stress management and coping techniques to promote healthy balanced lifestyles
- Utilize counseling and therapeutic methods to support psychiatric trauma-related and substance use disorder cases
- Facilitate group therapy with a focus on therapeutic group process and dynamics
