You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Court Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the courthouse and courtroom. This role supports the orderly operation of the premises and ensures a safe environment for court staff and visitors. The officer also assists the presiding judicial officer by helping to ensure that courtroom proceedings are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner. The position operates under the supervision of court management.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate integrity professionalism and a strong commitment to courthouse safety and security. This role requires the ability to interact respectfully and effectively with a diverse range of individuals. Prior experience in security or law enforcement and/or in managing or de-escalating tense situations is preferred.
This is a full-time limited-service position located inNewport Vermont. Starting salary is $19.87 per hour. The limited-service term will end6/30/2028. The Court Officer is a non-exempt Judicial Branch position equivalent to paygrade 17.The State of Vermonts total compensation package features an outstanding set of employee benefits that are worth about 30% of your total compensation.

Minimum Qualifications
High School Graduation or GED and 2 years in a responsible position.
Summary of Duties
Scheduled hours of work generally conform to public court hours but assignments may extend beyond those hours. Occasional travel to other courts within the State of Vermont may be required. Travel will be reimbursed according to State policies. This position will be eligible for longevity increases in accordance with the State step pay plan and annual cost of living increases as enacted by the Vermont State Legislature. Job Code #25057
