Serves as consultant to treatment teams to identified patients.
- Provides direct individual therapy and group therapy to identified patients and ensures proper documentation is completed timely and submitted according to agency and licensing standards.
- Assist in on-unit programming training and development.
- Communicates in a timely manner and attends all necessary meetings and conferences for increased patient recovery and to facilitate interdisciplinary communication leading to effective treatment and discharge.
- Meets with treatment teams and provides consultation contributes to patient treatment plans.
- Other duties as assigned as related to the position (typically 5% - 10%)
Knowledge of:
- Psychotherapeutic practices; mental health principles;
- Interpersonal and recovery principles;
- Behavior management and an understanding of mental health assessments and psychiatric diagnoses as derived from the DSM 5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders);
- Rules and expectations of internal and external auditing bodies;
- Behavioral health treatment programs and protocols;
- Recovery oriented and culturally competent treatment interventions for a wide variety of psychiatric disorders for a diverse population;- Performance Management (PM) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies.
Skill In:
- Various therapies for the seriously mentally ill;
- Group and individual mental health interventions;
- Oral and written communication;
- Psychiatric case conceptualization and psychiatric assessment
Ability to:
- Learn Arizona State Hospital (ASH) policies and procedures and patient rights;

Preferred candidate will have 2 years in inpatient psychiatric experience in developing treatment plans experience applying and utilizing a variety of psycho-therapeutic strategies and possess an independent license through the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (LPC LISAC LCSW).
Candidate must possess a Masters Degree in a Behavioral Health related field and possess a current Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (AZBBHE) Associate license or obtain Associate licensure within 6 months to 1 year of hiring through the State of Arizona as a LAC LASAC or LMSW. Once associate licensed candidate must participate in ongoing clinical supervision to consistently work towards achievement of independent licensure in no less that 2 years post associate licensed.
Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR and NVCI certification.
A State Hospital employee must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. 41-1758.07
