Job Summary:
As a crucial member of UAB Callahan Eye the nursing Unit and the Emergency Department nurses play a pivotal role in patient care. They report directly to the Manager of Patient Care Advocacy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for assessing planning implementing and evaluating nursing care for Emergency Department and Nursing Unit patients all under our policies.
- Actively participates in teams that enhance outcome quality through process improvement and team technologies.
- Previous Emergency Department experience and knowledge of clinical ophthalmology and terminology is desirable
Qualifications:
- Must have a current Alabama license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. Two years of nursing experience preferred. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
- Previous Emergency Department experience and clinical ophthalmology and terminology knowledge are desirable.
Licenses/Certification
Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment. Depending on the unit/department Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required.
