JOB SUMMARY
The Safety and Security Supervisor provides leadership to the after hours safety teams working in Catholic Charities buildings and grounds during designated times outside of normal business hoursLK1. Manages the performance of in-house and contracted safety and security team members under the guidance of the Manager and Director of Safety Security and Emergency Preparedness working to proactively prevent incidents on Catholic Charities property. This position may be involved in high-risk situations and may be asked to respond to de-escalate customers tenants and guests. Will provide excellent customer service and will model trauma informed best practices during every interaction with tenants clients guests volunteers and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- SchedulesSafetyAssociatesfillingunfilledshiftsasneededtoprovidefullcoverage for buildings and grounds interacting with clients tenants volunteers and guests to build positive to calls for service while on site.
- Provides support coaching and when needed discipline to ensure team member work performance in compliance with all applicable policies rules expectations and laws.
- Communicates effectively in verbal and written form to internal and external audiences including email phone facilitating training and meetings and in incident reports and observations.
- Leads afterhours emergency response in line with emergency preparedness plans and best practices. Assists with developing and updating emergency plans.
- Trains team in and uses appropriate interpersonal skills trauma informed care frameworkandde-escalationtechniquesto influenceescalatedsituationsgaining genuine agreement and following through on decisions and regulations.
- Trains team in and uses appropriate responses to disengage from physical violence as necessary to remove self and others from escalated situations.
- Identifyassessandunderstandcrisisintervention fromthemomentanincident occurs to the point that recovery procedures start.
- Demonstratesabilityandcantrainstafftoprovideserviceadjustingapproachesto reflect differences in the population served; individualizes response to meet client/tenant/guest needs.
- Partnerseffectivelywithprogramstaffindecisionmakingand response;fosters culture of improvement and innovative thinking.
- Acts as point of contact for camera radio access control and safety equipment issues and troubleshooting for the agency. Trains staff on safety technology manages user permissions and programs access control systems at an agency level.
- Attends shift huddles with teams to hear current issues and needs and supports work in applicable committees and work groups to move forward projects and initiatives with a safety and security nexus.
- With Director and Manager of Safety forms and supports meaningful relationships with communitypartnersincludingCityandCountylawenforcementagenciesand safety teams of neighboring businesses and organizations.
- Acts as primary point of contact for law enforcement or emergency responders coming on site after normal business hours. Processes requests from law enforcement or other outside agencies for camera footage; coordinates all requests according to Catholic Charities standard processes.
- Serves as on-call supervisor during designated times as assigned by Director or Manager.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Technical degree in related field preferred.
- Threeyearscustomerserviceandsecurityexperiencerequired.
- Two years shelter/outreach experience preferred.
- Two years access control and camera system experience preferred.
- Experiencewithschedulingandsupervisingstaffpreferred.
- CPIde-escalation andself-defensetrainingpreferred.
- Validdriverslicenseandasafedrivingrecord thatis acceptabletotheinsurance
- company required.
- Basiccomputerskillsrequired; intermediate computer skills preferred.
- Ability to work irregular hours on short notice including weekend holiday and on-call coverage.
- Has the ability to work with diverse and/or low-income populations including those who may be experiencing homelessness unstable housing and/or mental illness.
