A Childrens Hospital in Norfolk Virginia the only free-standing childrens hospital in the Commonwealth is seeking additional full-time Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NP) to join a dynamic 32-bed multi-disciplinary Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The PICU collaborates with the University of Virginia in the Congenital Cardiac Surgery program providing specialized care for post-operative cardiac patients within a diverse PICU population. Candidates with expertise and training in Cardiac Intensive Care are strongly encouraged to apply.
The hospital features an active Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program a busy Trauma service and comprehensive medical and surgical specialties.
Provide high-quality acute care to critically ill pediatric patients in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary PICU.
Collaborate with a team of physicians nurses and other healthcare professionals to manage complex medical and surgical cases including post-operative cardiac patients.
Participate in the assessment diagnosis and treatment of patients requiring intensive care including those on ECMO and trauma cases.
Perform procedures and interventions consistent with Acute Care NP training and scope of practice.
Work closely with the Congenital Cardiac Surgery program to support specialized care for cardiac patients.
Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with families and healthcare teams.
Experience: Prior Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience required.
Certification:
Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) certification through the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications are required prior to the start date.
Schedule: Full-time position with rotating days nights and weekends.
Education: Masters degree or higher in Nursing (for NPs) or Physician Assistant Studies (for PAs) from an accredited program.
Specialized training or expertise in Cardiac Intensive Care.
Experience with ECMO and trauma care in a pediatric setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
