The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Mine Controller to join our finance team and play a critical role in the financial oversight reporting and strategic planning of our mining operations. This role will serve as a key link between mine site operations and corporate finance providing timely accurate and actionable financial insights to guide operational and corporate decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning Analysis and Reporting:
Lead the preparation of site-level budgets forecasts and long-range financial plans in collaboration with operations and corporate teams.
Review and approve journal entries and transactions ensuring accuracy proper account coding and appropriate approvals.
Assist in the month-end and quarterly close activities including preparing working papers to ensure accuracy and appropriate documentation.
Deliver timely and accurate monthly quarterly and annual financial reports for mining operations.
Analyze variances between actual results and budget/forecast providing insights and recommendations to support business decisions.
Prepare operational KPIs and financial dashboards to track and enhance site performance.
Cost Management and Operations Support:
Monitor and analyze production costs cost drivers and site-level profitability to identify cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Support operational leaders by providing financial guidance and real-time analysis on exploration production procurement and maintenance spending.
Track capital expenditures and manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation for site infrastructure.
Internal Controls and Compliance:
Ensure financial controls and procedures are maintained across all mining site activities particularly around procurement payroll and material handling.
Act as a point of contact and liaise with external auditors during the annual audit.
Leadership and Collaboration:
Act as the primary financial liaison between mine site operations and corporate finance leadership.
Develop and mentor on-site accountant and collaborate with other mine site operation departments.
Participate in cross-functional projects contributing financial expertise to support operational efficiency and strategic planning.
Contribute to the implementation of new systems and support special projects as needed.
Propose and lead process improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy efficiency and timeliness of financial reporting.
Other Responsibilities
Perform additional duties and projects as required by the company.
Qualifications:
CPA designation is preferred.
7 years progressive finance experience; mining industry experience strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of mining operations costing methodologies and financial reporting frameworks (IFRS).
Experience with ERP systems (e.g. Acumatica Sage Pronto SAP or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Proven ability to analyze and interpret operational data to drive performance and efficiency.
Effective leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
Work Location: This is a remote position with preference for candidates based in Winnipeg. Frequent travel to the mine site located in Bissett Manitoba is required.
