Hourly Pay Range:

$26.61 - $39.92 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidates expertise and years of experience among other factors.

Chaplain Per Diem

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Chaplain Per Diem
  • Location: Northwest Community Hospital Arlington Heights IL.
  • Part Time: Per Diem
  • Hours: Hours vary upon the need of the department

What you will do:

Reporting through the assigned Care Coordination Division leader provides leadership in the delivery of spiritual care to patients families and staff within assigned collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team and community clergy as needed plans and provides spiritual care to patients based on assessed needs.

Educates advises and assists patients families and staff with completion of Advance Directives Surrogacy and DNR forms. Assists families and staff in completing decedent paperwork as per policy. Develops programs for assigned areas and NCH staff to increase knowledge of spiritual care and provides supports through educational opportunities debriefings crisis intervention spiritual counseling and grief support. Maintains Standards for Professional Chaplaincy Practice and Code of Ethics as outlined by the Association for Professional Chaplains.

  • Gathers and evaluates relevant information regarding the care recipients spiritual religious emotional and relational needs and resources. Develops and implements a plan of care to promote the well-being of the care recipient.
  • Documents in the appropriate recording structure information relevant to the care recipients well-being.
  • Collaborates within the scope of practice with other care providers to promote the well-being of the care recipient.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of information from all sources including the care recipient legal or organizational records and other care providers in accordance with federal and state laws regulations and rules.
  • Models and collaborates with other care providers in respecting and providing sensitive care regardless of diverse abilities beliefs cultures or identities.
  • Provides effective chaplaincy care to the organizations employees and affiliates via individual and group interactions. Provides chaplaincy care to the organization in ways consistent with the organizations values and mission statement.
  • Provides leadership in the chaplains professional setting and profession.
  • Seeks and creates opportunities to enhance the quality of chaplaincy care practice as understood within the chaplains professional setting.
  • Remains informed of relevant developments in evidenced-based and best practices in chaplaincy care through reading and reflecting on the current research and professional practice; and where practical collaborates or provides leadership on research studies.
  • Takes responsibility for continued professional development and demonstrates a working knowledge of current theory and practice as appropriate to the chaplains professional setting.
  • Appropriately uses technology to enhance delivery of care and to advance the work of the profession.
  • Values and utilizes business principles practices and regulatory requirements appropriate to the chaplains role in the organization.
  • Adheres to the Association of Professional Chaplains Code of Ethics and other codes of ethics as required by the chaplains professional setting to guide decision-making and professional behavior.
  • Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital standards policies and procedures.

What you will need:

  • Education: A Masters of Divinity degree Master of Arts in Religion or Master of Pastoral Counseling from an accredited school of theology required with a Bachelors degree in the humanities or human services preferred.
  • Certification: Successful completion of two or more CPE units from a center accredited by ACPE or NACC required.
  • Experience: Minimum three years experience in a healthcare setting required.
