Job Description

Part-time up to 28 hours/week.

Compensation: $50.00 per hour



Background

Internationally recognized as a premier museum and research center the Frick is known for its distinguished Old Master paintings and outstanding examples of European sculpture and decorative arts.


The collection originated with Henry Clay Frick () who bequeathed his home paintings sculptures and decorative arts to the public for their enjoyment. The institutions holdingswhich encompass masterworks from the Renaissance through the nineteenth centuryhave grown over the decades more than doubling in size since the opening of the museum in 1935. A critical component of the institution is the Frick Art Research Library founded in 1920 by Helen Clay Frick daughter of the museums founder. Recognized as one of the worlds top art history research centers it has served students scholars and members of the public free of charge for generations.


The Frick has undergone a comprehensive renovation and was open in a temporary home Frick Madison from 2020 through early 2024 while renovations were underway at the mansion on 70th Street. Construction has progressed rapidly and in addition to special exhibition galleries and education spaces we have added enhanced visitor amenities and accessible spaces. Frick Madison is now closed to the public. . The Museum and Art Research Library reopened to the public in April.

Position Summary

The Audio Engineer (A1) sets up and supports audio production for live events in the Stephen A. Schwarzman Auditorium in addition to various locations throughout The Frick addition to mixing FOH audio for live concerts lectures & panel discussions the A1 will be responsible for transporting setting up and breaking down of portable PA systems when required.


  • Provide technical and production support for public programming throughout the institution.
  • Mix audio for concerts programs and occasional livestreams.
  • Perform multi-track recordings of each event when required and back up sessions to content management platforms.
  • Execute stage plots and input lists as provided ahead of live events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

The education and/or experience requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and ability required to successfully perform the essential duties of this position.

  • Required minimum of 5 years audio engineering experience and live event production support.
  • Excellent knowledge of digital and analog signal flow.
  • Excellent knowledge of Dante audio networking (Levels 1 2 3 Certification a plus).
  • Working knowledge of Yamaha DM series audio consoles Working knowledge of audio recording applications including Reaper & ProTools Familiarity with Lacoustics SYVA PA Systems.
  • Positive professional flexible and ability to interact professionalism and respect with colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects at once.
  • Excellent attention to detail and troubleshooting skills


Physical Requirements

The candidate must be able to perform the essential functions of the position and if requested reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job absent undue hardship.


Physical requirements are comparable to most audio engineer roles. Ability to interact in-person with colleagues vendors and visitors. Use common office tools and machines (computer phone). Ability to traverse throughout the office building(s) and gardens both in and out-of-doors and visit different levels of the building. Ability to transport and operate audio equipment of up to at least 50 pounds.

Employment Status Work Hours and Compensation

This is a part-time on-call nonexempt role.


Since all production staff are relied upon to support a vast array of Museum events during

open and closed hours work shifts may be scheduled before/after regular business hours and on

weekends.


Compensation: $50.00/hour.
