Job Description

General Summary:

The Denials and Payer Relations Program Manager is responsible for the development implementation and management of the Lurie Revenue Cycle denial mitigation strategy. They will also be responsible for the identification analysis and communication of any changes in payer guidelines that affect the revenue cycle and peripheral departments. Additionally this role acts as the liaison between Lurie Childrens and our managed care payers for revenue cycle related issues.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Timely review of provider updates and contracts to identify any changes in coverage processes or policy that affect Lurie Children operations.
  • Facilitate communications workflow updates and education required to implement identified payer changes.
  • Creates and maintain database of payer related situation response guidelines to help insure effective and efficient interactions with payers.
  • Manages relationship with managed care provider representative and facilitates monthly revenue cycle payer meetings.
  • Works closely with revenue cycle leaders to understand document and track ongoing payer issues and work with payer representative to facilitate resolution.
  • Analyses denial trends across Lurie financial entities in order to prioritize solution development to reduce or eliminate denial trends.
  • Collaborates with Revenue Cycle and other department leaders to drive denials improvements across the system through prioritize project implementation.
  • Facilitates the monthly denials task force meetings.
  • Other job functions as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Baccalaureate degree required preferably in Business Administration Health Administration or Finance. Masters degree in one of these areas strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical interpersonal managerial and oral and written communication skills required.
  • Five years revenue cycle experience in a health care institution or healthcare insurance company. Similar experience in health care accounts receivable consulting or third-party claims management environment may also be considered.

$83200.00-$137280.00 Salary
