Description
The planning division intern program is an opportunity to gain practical experience for a prospective urban planner. Under general supervision the intern will assist the team with various tasks and projects gaining hands-on experience in the field. They will work closely with team members to support daily operations learn city practices and develop professional skills. This is a part-time temporary non-exempt position.
Examples of Duties
- Assist with day-to-day tasks and administrative duties to support Development Services
- Support project work by conducting research gathering field and/or parcel data and preparing reports for current and long-range planning projects
- Collaborate with team members on assigned projects
- Learn and apply relevant tools software and processes
- Maintain clear communication with supervisors and provide progress updates
- Any other duties as assigned by supervisor as needed
Typical Qualifications
- Basic understanding of planning principles
- Currently enrolled in a bachelors or masters program in urban planning or equivalent field
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft office
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative
