The DCFS Internal Audit section is seeking a detail-oriented beginner or experienced auditor to perform audits of federal and state programs information technology fiscal operations and functional operations designed to improve the effectiveness of risk management controls and governance processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Three years of experience in accounting or auditing; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following: accounting auditing business finance management economics quantitative methods or information systems; OR
A bachelors degree with twenty-four semester hours in one or a combination of the following: accounting auditing business finance management economics quantitative methods or information systems; OR
A bachelors degree in accounting auditing finance business administration management economics information systems quantitative methods or statistics; OR
A bachelors degree plus a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP) designation; OR
An advanced degree in accounting auditing finance business administration management economics information systems quantitative methods or statistics; OR
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information
- Job Duties:
As an Auditor 1 2 3 or 4 the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks among others:
- Under the guidance of higher-level audit staff conduct internal audits of various programs within the Department.
- Review audit observations and reports with superiors to identify and address special issues affecting internal operations.
- Carry out special projects as assigned and prepare reports related to these projects.
- Examine financial and other reports from different programs to ensure their accuracy.
Position-Specific Details:Appointment Type: This position is being filled as a classifiedprobational appointment.
Work Schedule:Typically work hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm MondayFriday. Flexible work schedules are available after meeting certain criteria and are dependent upon the position you are applying for.
Career Progression:Positions may be filled from this posting as an Auditor 1 2 3 or 4depending on the level of experience of the selected applicant(s).
Compensation:Below is the annual salary range for each level:The Auditor 1has a salary range of $40144 to $78790.
The Auditor 2has a salary range of $42952 to $84302.
The Auditor 3has a salary range of $49192 to $96533.
- The Auditor 4has a salary range of $52645 to $103293.
