Job Description

Overview

The Residential Facility Monitors are responsible for the safety and monitoring of the Harbor Light Complex and its surrounding grounds (i.e. mini-park parking lot).

THIS POSITION PAYS $16.00/HR

Responsibilities

  • Relieving the previous shift and conferring with them regarding all records logs daily reports the TESCO system etc. . .to ensure they are updated and complete.
  • Officially document any records logs and so forth that are not complete citing the reason for the incompletion before relieving on-duty personnel from their shift.
  • Answer in-coming phone calls. Direct calls and messages when necessary to the appropriate person or department.
  • Ensure that all visitors entering the facility /living areas for either personal or business reasons are logged in and out on the Daily Report with the times and purpose of the visit.
  • Ensure that any unusual incidents (sickness deaths fires thefts equipment breakdown or damage disorderly conduct etc.) are logged in the appropriate section of the Daily Report. Initiate appropriate reports regarding the incident.
  • Conduct searches of all residents and their belongings each time they enter the facility/living areas. If contraband is discovered notify an on-duty case manager or supervisor and complete an Incident Report.
  • Assist in or conduct a residential Corrections headcount/bed check a minimum of two (2) times per shift and record the count totals on the appropriate log. Notify appropriate authorities and complete an Incident Report if a resident is found to be AWOL.
  • Monitor the condition and behavior of all residents forintoxication and/or other abnormal behavior. When intoxication is suspected resident must be given an Alco-Sensor test. An incident report must be completed on residents exhibiting unruly behavior as well as anyone testing positive. The on-duty case manager must be notified.
  • Assist in the monitoring and collection of resident urinalysis specimens.
  • Assist in or conduct necessary room searches and inspections. Assist in the monitoring of floors. May also be required to relieve the elevator operator during breaks and/or staff shortages.
  • Will be required to supervise resident house duties and log the completion of the duties on appropriate form.
  • May be required to transport residents staff and/or packages to and from assigned destinations in an agency vehicle.
  • At the end of an assigned shift go over everything listed in the first duty of this position statement with the on-coming security personnel before leaving the security office and/or assigned floor. Ensure that all keys on the key board are accounted for.
  • Promptly notify detox outpatient or emergency shelter personnel of all individuals seeking admission into these programs so that they may be attended to as soon as possible.
  • Search persons and packages coming in and going out of the facility for contraband.
  • Sign for and deliver special delivery packages to the appropriate person or department.
  • All Residential Facility Monitors may be required to perform other duties as instructed by a supervisor.
  • All Residential Facility Monitors are required to attend trainings both on site and off site.
  • All Residential Facility Monitors may be required to attend client/staff activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Residential Safety and Monitoring Associate Director of Corrections Director of Corrections or Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in the security field is beneficial.
  • Must be able to routinely lift and carry boxes weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to use stairs when necessary for building evacuations drills or during elevator maintenance.
  • Read and write legibly. Good communication skills.
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification or in process of obtaining.
  • Effective in dealing with the public and/or dealing with intoxicating individuals.
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Speaks positively about the programs staff and The Salvation Army.
  • Verbalizes pro-social thinking using respectful language tone of voice and body language.
  • Displays pro-social behavior.
  • Maintains appropriate boundaries with clients and employees.
