How youll contribute
Staff support the delivery of quality food including texture-modified and therapeutic diets in accordance with the facility menu. They also assist in ensuring proper procedures for receiving storage preparation serving sanitation and cleaning are followed.
- Prepare and serve food in compliance with therapeutic and texture-modified diet requirements
- Follow proper procedures for receiving storing and preparing food
- Maintain cleanliness in work serving and dining areas
- Adhere to facility sanitation and safety standards
Qualifications and requirements
Education:
- High school diploma GED or combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid drivers license preferred.
- Food Safety/Sanitation certification preferred.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in food service hospital experience preferred.
Other:
- May be required to work flexible hours and overtime.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborates with the Dietary Manager and Registered Dietician for menus and patient specific needs.
- Keeps and rotates food/consumables stored per health department and hospital guidelines. Keeps rotation (FIFO) standards no expired food
products on premise. Properly dates and labels all food. - Maintains accurate HACCP programs checks food temperatures from delivery through consumption.
- Practices sanitation and food safety guidelines for appropriate food handling procedures including use of service utensils and gloves.
- Ensures all dishes and food preparation utensils are cleaned in accordance to safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Prepares meals in accordance to menu cycle and daily production sheet providing attention to attractiveness and taste of meals.
- Adheres to portion controls and over/under production.
- Ensures meal trays are prepared for patients unable to visit the cafeteria.
- Interacts with patients and staff in the serving line offering assistance of a nutritionally balanced meal.
- Accurately follows all posted cleaning schedules to ensure a clean work area and dining room at all times.
- Accurately documents refrigeration and dish machine temperatures in accordance to posted schedules.
- Reports any equipment malfunction immediately to the Dietary Manager.
- Maintains accurate supplies at the beverage station.
- Prepares snacks and nourishments according to resident food preferences and physician orders.
- Practices safety infection control and emergency procedures according to facility procedures.
