Reporting to the Sr Manager Compensation the Compensation Analyst is responsible for overseeing researching analyzing and implementing various Compensation plans and programs.

The primary duties include: Recommend starting salaries for new hires promotions and job changes based on relevant education and experience and the application of compensation policies and practices. Conduct job analyses by performing position classification audits to evaluate job content and related factors for appropriateness of classification and level of compensation. Draft job descriptions providing information on job duties and responsibilities qualifications and other requirements of the job. Conduct and respond to compensation surveys to obtain and provide salary data for various positions. Monitor and participate in the administration of the performance management program; and coordinate with other departments to effect merit increases and the disseminate program and increase information to employees. Promote safe work practices and maintain and foster a safe work environment. May go into the field to conduct job audits. Perform otherrelated duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.

Metra is a railroad employer subject to the provisions of the Railroad Retirement Tax Act not the Social Security Administration.

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  2. In addition to #1 must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in compensation human resources or finance.
  3. Good knowledge of position classification & compensation.
  4. Good knowledge of human resources principles policies and practices.
  5. Good knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regulations and guidelines.
  6. Good knowledge of HR data and HRIS applications.
  7. Intermediate skills in utilizing Microsoft 365 (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook) or similar business applications.
  8. Intermediate skills using HR information systems.
  9. Good research analytical and organizational skills.
  10. Good verbal and written communications skills.
  11. Good interpersonal and customer service skills.
  12. Ability to work independently and in a team orientated collaborative environment.
  13. Ability to prioritize multi-task and meet deadlines.
  14. Ability to exercise discretion and good judgment in handling sensitive and confidential information.

  1. Bachelors degree
