MAINTENANCE WORKER (Facilities-PARKS)

Position will be open until filled.

We are currently seeking:

A maintenance worker to join our this role you will perform unskilled general labor and maintenance work for City parks streets facilities and infrastructure in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.

Your responsibilities will include:

1. Responsible for the development and maintenance of park areas.
2. Cleaning public restrooms picking up litter removing graffiti inspecting playgrounds and collecting trash from assigned areas. Inspecting Park facilities for vandalism and reports in writing on a daily basis.
3. Perform landscaping duties such as mowing weed eating tree removal and/or pruning. Performs gardening duties such as planting and weeding of flower beds. May make minor repairs such as painting light carpentry and minor plumbing.
4. May spray herbicides or pesticides to control weeds insects or diseases in trees flower beds and / or lawn areas. May assist in installing and/or repairing irrigation systems and water lines signage playground equipment and other park amenities.
5. Operating and maintaining a variety of specialized equipment and performs general manual labor tasks in order to maintain parks streets infrastructure and City facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; responds to emergencies as needed.
6. Performing maintenance and repairs within scope of authority and in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures; reports safety hazards equipment problems and emergency situations.
7. Operating and maintaining a variety of tools and specialized equipment.
8. Assisting in the repair and maintenance of parks and roadways; maintains landscaping and grounds; clearing trash brush weeds and debris from roadways structures grounds and facilities.
9. Cleaning and maintaining City facilities; making minor facility repairs; assists with the construction of new facilities and installation of equipment.
10. Cleaning and storing hazardous materials according to City policy and procedures.
11. Periodically provides some over-time and services on weekends and holidays.
12. Hours: Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm to include some weekends and holidays (30-minute lunch).
13. Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and Skills:

• Safe and efficient operation and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Closely following verbal and written instructions and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent; and prefer two years of general work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Licenses or Certifications:

• Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
• Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

• Work is performed outdoors.
• Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time; to work in extreme weather conditions.
• Requires constant physical efforts and ability to lift and carry up to 117 pounds.
