About the Opportunity

The College of Science at Northeastern University is looking for part-time lecturers to teach a graduate course called EESC-6500 Pathways to Professional Success for Fall 2025 either online or on-ground on the Boston MA campus. This class is related to cooperative education and career development and is designed to prepare graduate students for a short-term internship/Co-op experience and their current/future careers.

About the Course:
The EESC-6500 Pathways to Professional Success course is designed to help students develop a comprehensive set of professional competencies including self-assessment career exploration networking and job search strategies while honing critical skills in resume writing interview preparation workplace communication and collaboration. The class will teach students how to analyze industry trends research potential career paths and adapt to various workplace culturesdemonstratingprofessionalismethical decision-makingand time management. By the end of the course students will be prepared to transition into cooperative education experience and post-graduate employment equipped with tools to navigate the professional workplace and achieve long-term career success.


Course assignment and instruction for this posting will be for the Cooperative Education division of the College of Science. The instructor will teach graduate-level College of Science students within the course.


Course content includes areas such as self-assessment resume writing networking job analysis and research interviewing and ethical decision-making.


This is an 11-14 week course starting in September 2025. Courses will be taught primarily on-ground on the Boston MA campus or online.

On-ground times:
Classes will be provided in person on Mondays or Fridays from 6:00pm-7:40pm Eastern time on the Boston MA campus.

Online courses:

Classes are completely asynchronous with online engagement for students taking the course. No live instruction is provided.


Positions are available contingent upon enrollment funding and departmental needs.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree required.
  • Work in experiential learning career services human resources or related field preferred.
  • 2 years teaching experience preferred. Online teaching experience is desirable.
  • Familiarity with LMS systems such as Canvas preferred but not required
  • Applicants with industry experience in Life Sciences not required but a plus
  • Strong organization and communication skills and attention to detail is required.
  • Ability to meet virtually once per month required.
