Shifts: Evenings OR Nights
Job Summary
Primarily performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) exams including basic cardiac procedures. Ensures quality standards are met and promotes continuous quality improvement. Maintains current knowledge of MR technology and equipment as applicable. Responsible for Patient Safety including pre-screening for implants and researching for clearance if needed aseptic injection technique for contrast administration etc. Able to perform job functions as a MRI technologist while modeling the hospital core values as well as excellent communication and customer service skills. Acts as a knowledge resource for students technologists and others.
Job Duties:
Produces examinations that meet image quality standards while verifying patient information is accurate and completion of the exam with appropriate EPIC and PACS documentation/verification.
Communicates changes to the schedule due late arrivals or potential issues that may arise throughout the day via Voalte or phone to all parties.
Provide proper coverage per need of the department; (ie call and holiday coverage off-site coverage adjustment of hours if needed etc).
Ensures quality control procedures are performed scanners are restarted hard drive below 60% capacity and image quality meets the departmental standards.
Actively participates in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Works closely with nurses physicians Radiologists 3D Technologists and Anesthesiologist to achieve positive outcomes and optimal patient flow while maintaining an efficient workflow.
Abides by and maintains a working knowledge of both institutional policy and accreditation procedures/policies that the department or organization is accredited by.
Performance of variety of exams are monitored biannually.
Other job functions as assigned (ie assistance with scheduling protocol development/build transfer of images scheduling help research support etc)
MRI Technologist Essential Job functions:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) eligible in MR. Must complete within 1 year of employment. Certification must be maintained throughout employment.
Minimum 1 year MR imaging experience preferred; hospital setting bonus.
Ability to perform all basic MRI imaging procedures according to department standard in a timely and efficient manner.
Adheres to MR safety procedures as described in the MR safety program.
Participation education and dedication in all imaging procedure that are clinical and research needed.
Manages their assigned scanner efficiently and productively by following the appointments that are scheduled and protocol guidelines.
Evaluation of scanners in advance and verification of implant clearance and protocol/exam correction prior to patient arrival.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Degree from an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification through American Heart Association required.
Strong critical thinking skills and versatile scanning capabilities with ability to make quick accurate decisions daily and ability to handle stressful situations all while working calmly.
Computer skills required must maintain competence working in Epic basic Microsoft Office 365 skills and other department specific software.
Must demonstrate strong organizational skills excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to problem-solve and support teamwork in a multidisciplinary setting.
Ability to maintain and update educational record on an annual basis.
Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of process for and can perform as needed modality-specific quality control procedures.
Other Skills: Strong communication skills empathy & strong emotional intelligence resilience time management and organizational skills.

$40.00-$66.00 HourlyAt Lurie Childrens we are committed to competitive and fair compensation aligned with market rates and internal equity reflecting individual contributions experience and expertise. The pay range for this job indicates minimum and maximum targets for the position.
