Fluid Systems Design Engineer Dreadnought Services

Full Time

Hybrid (min 3 days)/Derby/Cardiff/Glasgow

What you will be doing

The Dreadnought Fluid Systems teams are responsible for creating key safety design build commissioning and operational documentation for the next generation of the UKs Ballistic Submarines Nuclear Steam Raising Plant. The team work closely with the Ministry of Defence third party partners The Royal Navy BAE Systems and Babcock Marine as well as the Rolls-Royce Devonport Clyde and Barrow Satellite Site office teams. The role of a Fluid Systems Engineer (FSE) is integrating individual components into a reliable and functional system therefore we often we act as an integrator combining the deep technical knowledge of different disciplines to form a well-balanced justification for build commissioning and operation of the submarine.

Responsibilities

With this unique stage in the design development of a first of type submarine you will get a chance to:

  • Take on System Ownership becoming responsible for the continued design phases of the Primary Systems and/or Operational functions.
  • Develop/update/author Operational Procedures this will involve collaborations with the Ministry of Defence third party partners The Royal Navy Current Class experienced engineers and future platforms FSEs too.
  • Update and improve nuclear safety case documentation providing the verification and validation or the Primary Systems designs.
  • Support to Commissioning of the Nuclear Steam Raising Plants Primary Systems this can vary in medium either remotely via processes such as RRADARs Technical Queries etc or in person at Barrow Site.
  • Produce and manage the Primary System Fluid System Design Issue Notes for use by the Submarine enterprise partners.

Be qualified to at least degree level in a relevant (engineering) discipline.

planning.

stakeholders.

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines business an individual has to hold a Security Check clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently already have this in to the nature of work the business conducts and the protection of certain assets we can only progress applications from individualswho are a UK national or in MoD approved cases a dual national.
