We have an exciting opportunity for an Estates Building Manager at our historic London office in Burlington House on Piccadilly to join us on 6 months this role youll provide strategic input to maintain effective relationships with other learned and professional societies in the Burlington House Courtyard and oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the building through a team of facilities staff. The position requires a unique blend of listed property expertise financial acumen and relationship management skills to protect RSC interests while preserving the heritage of the building through routine maintenance and upgrade plans. Youll work closely with the CEO CFO and colleagues to develop a robust property strategy.
In this role you will be working standard office hours with flexibility to accommodate necessary meetings events and out of hours work as required.
Accountabilities
- Ensure the safe efficient and compliant operation of all building services across Burlington House estate including HVAC lighting electrical and plumbing and safety systems.
- Advise on the maintenance and improvement of Burlington House ensuring the building remains fit for purpose while managing costs effectively.
- Maintain the integrity and historic character of a Grade II listed building through appropriate conversation-aware management.
- Oversee the cleanliness maintenance and presentation of internal spaces common areas; and in particular the courtyard ensuring it remains sage maintained and accessibly in collaboration with the Courtyard Societies.
- Procure appoint and manage external contactors for services such as building maintenance cleaning fire safety systems.
- Monitor contract performance through KPIs and SLAs ensuring works are completed to standard on time and within budget.
- Accountable for the allocated budget for maintenance suppliers and external contracts ensuring effective cost control and forecasting.
- Monitor expenditure and generate reports for CEO and Leadership as required
- Provide direction support and oversight to the to the Building Services Supervisor responsible for managing day-to-day tasks relating to building operations.
- Work collaboratively with the Supervisor to set objectives monitor performance and ensure adequate coverage and resourcing.
- Ensure the Building Services Supervisor are equipped with the information tools and training needs to lead their team effectively and compliantly.
- Establish and maintain open transparent and responsive communication channels with all building stakeholders. Manage expectations through regular updates and transparent discussions fostering trust and collaboration.
- Lead on projects relating to the use of Burlington House including support for fundraising outreach and subletting to tenants in collaboration with key stakeholders.
Knowledge and skills required
- Attainment of recognised qualifications relevant to the role or demonstrable experience with strong leadership skills.
- Understanding of heritage building and/or working with listed structures.
- A professional background and experience in Estates Management and project delivery to provide senior-level technical and strategic advice and guidance to Leadership team and CFO.
- Strong analytical skills to present complex information and data including property financial information to inform decisions.
- Ability to evaluation information quickly and identify key issues and solutions.
- Knowledge of construction/building legal matters health and safety and project-based environments.
- A proven track record in successfully managing a diverse range of capital expenditure projects preferably in estates or facilities management sector.
- Experience of overseeing commercial estates projects from initial planning to completion including budget management and control.
- Proven experience in listed property management planning and change management.
