ABOUT YOU

You will be working in a high-reward environment on the NATO Airbase located in Geilenkrichen. Your efforts will ensure the safety of personnel high-value aircraft and the surrounding facilities in both routine and emergency situations.

The role requires the ability to quickly assess emergency situations and effectively respond to commands and coordinate efforts during emergencies. Additionally ideal candidates bring technical expertise as well as equipment handling experience and skills and work well as part of a team and international community.

The NAEW & C Forceis a unique multinational flying force with operational capability located at the NATO Airbase Geilenkirchen. With its 14 E-3A aircraft our organization plays a critical role in NATO and our mission is to deliver ready responsive Airborne Early Warning Battle Management and Command and Control capability to operational commanders in support of NAC-approved tasks.

The Fire/Crash/Rescue Branch provides a 24/7 fire-fighting capability for all aircraft operational technical and domestic areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES

  • Firefighting & Rescue Operations: Perform fire-fighting crash and rescue duties ensuring the safety of personnel and property.
  • Vehicle & Equipment Maintenance: Inspect test and maintain fire and rescue vehicles and equipment for operational readiness. Perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Ongoing Training: Participate in continuous training and certification courses including Aircraft Firefighting Rescue Operations NBC (Nuclear Biological Chemical) Operations and more.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Respond to emergency situations including fire and rescue operations and contribute to exercises and contingency operations.
  • Physical Fitness: Maintain physical fitness to ensure readiness for demanding operational tasks and emergency situations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience: At least 1 year firefighting experience including knowledge of basic firefighting principles and rescue operations.
  • Training: Completed courses such as Aircraft Firefighting Phase I Rescue Operations Phase I and NBC Operations Phase I and more. Must be willing to complete additional mandatory training as needed (for example LG1E1).
  • Licensing: Hold a valid driving license to operate Airfield Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) Vehicles (European Classes C & CE or equivalent).
  • Physical Fitness: The role demands physical fitness and readiness to respond to emergencies at any time therefore applicants must meet physical standards.
  • Language: Both English and German languages are required to perform assigned duties.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in voluntary firefighting organizations.
  • Previous NATO/international/military assignments.

CONTRACT

Serving civilian members of NATO will be offered a contract in accordance with the NATO Civilian Personnel Regulations.

Newly recruited staff will be initially offered a definite duration contract of three years. Thereafter an indefinite duration contract might be offered.
