JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Bus Monitor
JOB GOALS: The Bus Monitor assists the driver in maintaining order on the bus and assuring the safety of the students while entering riding and departing from the bus.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- The Bus Monitor should possess a consistent demonstration of effective interpersonal relationship skills which will enable him/her to interact in a professional manner with children parents and staff.
- Experience working with children
- At least a high school diploma required. Additional education or training is preferred.
- Experience working with school-age children preferred.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills and attention to safety and detail.
- Dependability and punctuality required.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist students as they board the bus and guide them to their assigned seats.
- Assign seats and make changes as needed; keep up-to-date accurate records of seat assignments and promptly notify the supervisor of updates.
- Ensure all students are properly restrained while riding and that safety protocols and safety agreements are followed at all times.
- Monitor and maintain order and respectful behavior to prevent driver distractions.
Foster a safe supportive and calm environment through positive interactions with students. - Assist students safely off the bus and ensure they are released only to authorized individuals listed on the Child Release Form verifying identification as needed.
- Learn the designated route and assist substitute drivers in following it when necessary.
- Maintain an updated list of authorized student riders and track daily attendance and student release.
- Notify school staff and supervisor of concerns regarding a childs health behavior or emotional well-being.
- Report daily student absences to the supervisor by the start of the school day.
- Report any alternate pick-up arrangements for students before the end of the school day.
- Check the bus at the end of each route to ensure no child remains onboard and all belongings are accounted for.
- Report all unscheduled absences to the supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: School Year. Bus Monitors work in the morning when students are transported to school and in the afternoon when students are transported home.

Pay Rate:$28per hour
