This is a PRN remote position with 50% travel with days working onsite at our varies hospitals and other days working remotely.
What youll do:
The Director Infection Prevention (IP) will be responsible for the oversight and direction of Infection Prevention activities for assigned hospitals/markets including but not limited to infection surveillance and regulatory reporting requirements. IP will be involved in onboarding and mentoring novice Infection Preventionists at the direction of Lifepoints AVP Infection Prevention and hospitals leadership. Assignments are made based on facility need and can be at any facility across the Lifepoint enterprise. Assignments may be onsite and/or remote.
Responsibilities:
Maintain federal and state reporting requirements.
Support the ongoing HAI reduction and prevention actions required of all hospitals.
If needed develop/enhance and implement hospital wide infection surveillance prevention and control policies and procedures that adhere to law and regulation and nationally recognized guidelines.
Perform competency-based training and education of hospital staff on infection prevention and control activities.
Collaboration with all departments supporting infection prevention activities such as sterile processing antimicrobial stewardship initiatives construction/renovation projections water and linen management.
Audit compliance with key patient care metrics. Verify that clinical personnel provide safe and effective patient-centered care.
Assist clinical management personnel by incorporating evidence-based infection prevention knowledge into decisions for the provision of safe patient-centered care in the hospital.
Assist clinical management personnel in evaluating practice and creating strategies for further improvement.
Verify that educational resources are available for personnel and support clinical management to hold personnel accountable for compliance with established standards.
Coordinate facilitate and manage change within the health care organization.
Collect and analyze data related to quality or performance improvement projects related to HAI prevention.
Collect and ensure all data entry required for federal and state reporting related to infection prevention and control.
Facilitate or serve as a member of a multidisciplinary team in planning hospital associated infection prevention actions.
Verify and edit as needed organizational policies and procedures to meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
Regular and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What youll need:
Education: Bachelors degree masters degree preferred.
Experience:Minimum of 5 years in hospital Infection Prevention. Preferred experience in quality and safety initiatives. Extensive experience with NHSN reporting.
Certifications: Certified in Infection Control (CIC). Certified Professional Patient Safety (CPPS) preferred.
Skills and Abilities:NHSN SAMS access; preferred experience with Meditech MedHost Cerner and EPIC EMRs; preferred experience with Wolter Kluwers Sentri 7 platform; preferred experience with The Joint Commission AMP tracer tools.
