The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham is seeking a dedicated and experienced Qualified Social Worker to join our Children Looked After Team.
The team works with our cared for children up to the age of 16 years and are responsible for court work and permanency planning for those children needing care outside of their extended family.
Hammersmith and Fulham Childrens Services rated Outstanding by Ofsted in our most recent inspection never stops moving forward. Our ambition is to focus even more on increasing the quality of our practice and the work with children young people and families to sustain positive change. As a service we promote a highly supportive culture that allows you to do what you do best encompassing individual mentoring having manageable workloads and clear developmental opportunities.
You will play a vital role in supporting children and young people in care ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met through high-quality child-centred social work practice.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of looked after children ensuring timely assessments care planning and reviews.
Work collaboratively with foster carers families schools and other professionals.
Prepare reports for court and attend proceedings as required.
Promote permanency planning and support transitions to independence.
Ensure all statutory responsibilities are met in line with legislation and best practice.
About You
Qualified Social Worker (Degree/DipSW/CQSW) and registered with Social Work England.
Experience working with looked after children or within childrens services.
Strong understanding of relevant legislation including the Children Act 1989.
Excellent communication assessment and report-writing skills.
Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and improving outcomes for children.
