Job Title: Power System Planning Engineer
Description:
We are hiring for our client a key player in the energy infrastructure sector who is seeking a Power System Planning Engineer to join their dynamic team in Belfast (Hybrid). This is a high-impact opportunity to help shape Northern Irelands transmission network and contribute to the energy transition towards a low-carbon future.
As a Power System Planning Engineer youll report directly to the Head of Networks working on technical assessments and optioneering of grid solutions. You will influence how the future power system develops and ensure its efficiency reliability and security.

The Role:
Carry out steady state load flow voltage short circuit and transient stability analysis
Develop and assess network reinforcement options and recommend optimal solutions
Assess and advise on the connection of new generation and demand to the grid
Use industry tools such as PSS/E or PowerFactory
Liaise with key stakeholders including regulators government departments and customers
Deliver well-reasoned technical reports and contribute to governance and project planning
The Person:
A degree in engineering or equivalent (electrical engineering preferred)
2 years post-graduate experience in a relevant technical or energy-related role
Exposure to or experience in power systems analysis (e.g. load flow voltage short circuit)
Strong analytical communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced technical environment
Advantageous: experience with Python PSSE PowerFactory or working in a regulated environment
