Qualifications and requirements:Under the supervision of an RN performs telemetry monitoring. Reports to: Director of Intensive Care Unit
FLSA: Non-exempt
Education:High school diploma or equivalent Required; Associates degree Preferred
Licenses:EMT EMT-P CNA SRNA or CMA Preferred or completion of first semester clinical rotation in an accredited Nursing Degree Program (ADN or BSN).
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Required; Completion of Cardiac Telemetry Certification within 1 year of hire;Evidence of successful completion of Telemetry/Dysrhythmia course
Required Skills
- Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
- Essential Functions
- Performs continual surveillance of multiple monitors.
- Identifies significant arrhythmias and/or signs of patient distress and intervenes appropriately. Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
Reports abnormal assessment and telemetry findings or changes in patient physical mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. - Tests equipment for proper working order. Reports equipment problems to supervisor.
