Title: Canada Communications Manager

Department: Communications

Reporting to: Director Canada Communications (with a dotted line to the Associate Director of Executive Communications)

Compensation: $90K- $100K CAD

Location: Remote - Canada(Candidates based in British Columbia Alberta Manitoba Saskatchewan Ontario Nova Scotia or willing to relocate)

About the Opportunity:

The Canada Communications Manager will be embedded within the Managing Directors Office in Canada and will support this team as well as the larger team in Canada comprising our business policy and programs colleagues. You will play a central role in helping to build and execute strategic communications including those related to our government relations efforts program initiatives philanthropic initiatives and brand-forward plans that tell the story of WES work in Canada as a leading social enterprise advancing our influence objectives. Together with teams across Canada you will support work to shape narratives that highlight how immigration and immigrants contribute to Canadian society and economic prosperity. You will report to the Director Canada Communications with a dotted line to the Associate Director of Executive Communications.

What Youll Do:

  • Work with the Director Canada Communications and Associate Director of Executive Communications in refining and executing strategic communications plans to support influence goals in Canada that draw on team and partner expertise and insight. Maintain editorial and events calendar for all influence and communications activities across Canada in close collaboration with the Communications teams Events Manager.
  • Work with the Director Canada Communications and Associate Director Executive Communications in collaboration with program and policy teams to draft messages social media posts talking points press releases and other collateral and content as requested.
  • Develop and implement project management processes and tools to facilitate the timely and effective delivery of content and collateral for campaigns or events working in partnership to ensure there is clear and accurate communications action focus and regular updates tracking and /or reporting.
  • Collaborate across the wider communications team to provide inputs to the web editorial calendar social media and to coordinate with designers.
  • In partnership with the Director Canada Communications and the relevant department leads develop approaches and manage systems to track and report on activities measure and review impact and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support the Director Canada Communications in media relations efforts including developing and maintaining a relevant media contact list.
  • Collaborate with the MDO Programs and Policy teams to provide research and background materials for communications and related activity.
  • Support management of relationships with key external stakeholders including regional partners community leaders customers and influencers keeping them informed on activities programs and initiatives.
  • Provide media monitoring and analysis to senior leadership when requested.
  • Conduct market research analyze trends and identify communication channels that help build the brands influence across national provincial and community networks.
  • Stay up to date on industry trends emerging technologies and best practices in Communications.
  • Provide additional support as requested to implement the Canadian communications strategy.

Your Experience:

The ideal candidate will have:

Required

  • 5 years of experience in communications roles in Canada specifically with a focus on external communications and engagements.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Suite PowerPoint SharePoint and Salesforce as well as project management too such as Jira and Monday.
  • Exceptional writing skills including proven ability to communicate and synthesize complex issues in a concise clear and convincing fashion.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with proven ability to manage and deliver plans and programs in organizations operating across community networks governmental or higher education institutions.
  • Deep interest in WES work and understanding of the external landscape.
  • Knowledge of and interest in international higher education global migration social enterprise and/or social impact work.
  • Strong relationship building influencing and collaboration skills as well as a flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work both strategically and hands-on to deliver results with a get-things-done orientation.

Desired

  • Prior experience in a similar role at a public affairs agency and/or in government focused on immigration or workforce development in Canada.
  • Subject matter knowledge related to WESs work and the landscape in which we operate.
  • Functionally bilingual in French and English.
