Purpose:
TheDirector Strategy and Operations will play a critical role in operational leadership to ensure the successful execution of initiatives that enhance efficiency and drive scientific innovation of the Therapeutics Discovery individual will partner closely with the Senior Director of Strategy & Operations to understand scientific strategy and drive continuous improvements and change management. This individual will harmonize the business and operational processes between all teams and will lead the Strategy & Operations team to develop execute and deliver TDs short and long-term strategic objectives.
You will be responsible for:
- Leads an operational team supporting the Therapeutics Discovery (TD) functions to maximum effectiveness.
- Assist the Senior Director in formulating and executing TDs strategic and operational plans.
- Partners with other R&D and DPDS partners to assure appropriate cross-functional operating framework that drives scientific synergies and operational efficiency.
- Establish and provide cross-functional continuous improvement framework and lead projects to drive Discoverys operational efficiency. Identifies inefficient processes and transforms them with more efficient compliant processes.
- Provides a framework for assuring optimal operating governance with outsource/external partners. Partners as needed within DPDS Operations team to drive Portfolio Forecasting & Analytics strategy which develops consolidates and provides portfolio costing and provide value statements cost of ownership models etc.
- Closely work with the Finance PMO and Procurement organizations and Discovery functions to assure delivery and execution of scientific outputs that are integral to discovery programs. Collaborate with Finance Lead on the Discovery long range financial plan.
- Serves as coordinator for Discovery staff change management.
- Motivates inspires and influences others across the organization and enterprise to achieve results
- Takes ownership for Strategy & Operations Talent Development and creating a culture centered on our Credo Values
- Develops coaches and engages talent and ensures diverse bench strength for the future
- Establishes and maintains strong relationships with key external and internal stakeholders to attain business results
- Partners with Extended Leadership team to drive cross functional initiatives
- Fosters a culture for innovation
Qualifications / Requirements:
Education:
- Minimum of a Bachelors degree is required
- Advanced degree (Masters) is preferred
Required:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in both laboratory sciences and operations in pharma R&D
- Knowledge of Discovery sciences and business
- Strong organizational skills related to data management
- Demonstrated success at developing highly collaborative and effective relationships in complex highly matrixed organization
- Ability to present and communicate to stakeholders
- Must have demonstrated experience and success with external partnerships
- Change management experience
- Experience in assessing technology external environment and R&D process requirements to successfully drive operational productivity strategy optimization process improvements and efficiencies
- Experience with Program Project and Financial Management
- Ability to translate data into information and strategies into executable action plans
- Position will require up to 15% domestic and international travel defined by business needs
