Job Summary
This job is responsible for transporting patient and equipment between departments/locations. Provides with basic aspects of patient care patient mobility and maintenance of equipment under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a defined care team. Contributes to the delivery of patient focused care.

Essential Job Functions

• Assists with cleaning of equipment and maintenance of department; may exchange oxygen tanks and/or attach IVs to wheelchairs or gurneys as necessary.
• Escorts patient at the time of discharge from their room to personal transportation.
• Maintains a safe work and patient environment adhering to the hospitals Safety Risk Management Regulatory Standards and infection prevention.
• Performs basic life support gives assistance to medical staff during emergencies and may respond to hospitals codes.
• Performs basic patient care activities based on skill ability and limitations of scope of practice as directed by management and/or nursing staff.
• If assigned checks cleans and disinfects mobile non-critical medical equipment (e.g. IV pumps/poles feeding pumps cardiac monitoring equipment cabinets etc.) in accordance with established standards/procedures and manufacturers instructions; assures that disinfectant is applied with sufficient contact time.
• Transports patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments in a manner conducive to patient safety and comfort; returns all equipment after transport (ie. wheelchair stretcher); informs floors when patient is being transported; provides feedback to healthcare staff on occurrences during period of transport.

Education/Work Experience Requirements
Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program (or military medical specialty training). Six months related work experience preferably in a hospital setting.

Licensure/Certification

• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant by the Washington State Nursing Commission.
• Current healthcare provider BLS certification.
