You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailAre you looking for a new challenge that offers the opportunity to lead key finance functions in a high-profile public sector organisation If you are passionate about improving financial management forecasting and the stewardship of public funds we are recruiting for two C2 Finance Leads within the Finance and Corporate Services Division.
These roles offer the chance to lead either the Benefit Expenditure and Debt Finance branch or the Financial Reporting and Planning branch. These positions are integral to the effective operation of our Finance Unit and play a vital role in safeguarding resources for the people of Scotland who need them most.
In the Benefit Expenditure and Debt Finance role you will lead a team of over 50 people with three direct reports focusing on improving our forecasting and debt management the Financial Reporting and Planning role you will lead a team of over 20 people with five direct reports contributing to the continued enhancement of our financial reporting and planning processes.
Both roles require strong leadership strategic thinking and a commitment to continuous improvement. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive environment with the opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on how we manage public finances.
Responsibilities
Support your business areas Deputy Director / Director in strategic and operational financial planning and activities influencing as part of the Annual Accounts process with Audit Scotland.
Leadership and strategic management of either the Financial Reporting and Planning branch or the Benefit Expenditure and Debt Finance branch.
Key member of the Finance unit and divisional senior management deputising for Head of Finance.
Managing a wide range of conflicting demands and ensuring adequate and efficient deployment of resource maximising the use of technology.
Negotiate influence and challenge internal stakeholders to improve the organisations financial capability; strong focus on performance outcomes and value for money.
Delivery of high quality and timely corporate reporting and financial planning ensuring that there is effective links with business and strategic planning and effective scrutiny and consultation.
Present provide advice and challenge to senior leaders (Audit Committee Executive Team and Change forums) on governance accountability risk appetite policy process.
Manage the branch financial and operational performance risks and issues assisting in the assessment of divisional risk and ensuring that arrangements are in place for continuity of service.
Represent the organisation and develop strong relationships with Scottish Government and the wider Public Sector; championing negotiating and influencing policy process system and cultural changes.
Qualifications

Working Pattern
Our standard hours are 35 hours per week and we offer a range of flexible working options depending on the needs of the role. We embrace a hybrid working style where all colleagues will spend time in either our Glasgow or Dundee offices. There is an expectation of a minimum 2 days per week in your assigned location which will be either Glasgow or you have specific questions about the role you are applying for please contact us.
