Job Summary:The Fire Alarm System Technician I assists with installation testing maintenance repair and operation of equipment and circuitry for fire alarm systems under close supervision.
Additional Department Summary:Under moderate supervision performs work in the electronic skills area involving the installation maintenance repair and/or operation of equipment and circuitry for fire alarm systems. Maintains communication accessibility 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Failure to perform job well could result in failures within the fire alarm systems and/or network. As such NFPA criteria may not be met which could result in closure of affected buildings. Employee(s) must drive from site to site in a University supplied vehicle.
Required Minimum Qualifications:High school diploma or GED and six (6) months of experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. drivers license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.
Skills and Knowledge:Candidate must have the ability to read understand and follow plans specifications and blueprints. Candidates must have the ability to operate basic computer software.
Preferred Qualifications:Ability to operate an OTDR (fiber assessment equipment). NICET certification.
