OVERVIEW

At Lavazza North America the purpose of this role is to be the champion and guardian of Operations Quality and Food Safety in our North American manufacturing site. The job exists to ensure that the appropriate quality management systems and programs are being followed to guarantee that the consistent high quality food safety and legality of our products are effectively applied to deliver high and continually improving levels of
Customer/Consumer Satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee all food safety and quality programs to ensure compliance with food safety sanitation and product quality standards in manufacturing storage and distribution. Ensure adherence to all federal state and local regulations.
  • Report accurate and timely data feeding all quality reports generated by periodic audit results non-conformances and audits.
  • Maintain quality records ensuring adequate documentation for traceability and retrieval systems (Sherlock).
  • Manage the inspection and release program for raw and packaging materials addressing issues through supplier quality assurance.
  • Act as a liaison between Supply and Supplier Quality Assurance raising Supplier Non-Conformance Reports after assessments.
  • Ensure West Chester associates are adequately trained in necessary quality tools and techniques.
  • Serve as a functional expert of software systems (SAP QDA SHERLOCK IOF) ensuring Q&FS requirements are met and up to date.
  • Support and deliver annual quality training to the manufacturing team (GMP Hold & Release).
  • Manage product incident investigations CAPAs and deviations that occur in manufacturing.
  • Facilitate problem-solving for issues affecting quality or food safety in manufacturing.
  • Investigate manufacturing-related consumer complaints with the supply team.
  • Perform internal audits and participate on the Food Safety team.
  • Manage the sites Pest Control Program.
  • Uphold legal and commercial compliance with all specified standards such as labeling regulations Kosher certification RFA and Organics certification.
  • Manage internal and third-party or regulatory audits ensuring all written programs and documentation are in place for food safety sanitation FSMA and Food Safety standards to meet compliance with government regulations and Lavazza -auditor for FSSC Costco Kosher RFA and all customer audits.
  • Analyze test results to determine trends for process improvements corrective actions and to prevent potential product quality issues. Use discernment and judgment to decide on the hold or release of daily production based on test results.
  • Manage the site environmental monitoring and sanitation effectiveness monitoring programs. Work with the production team to drive corrective actions by modifying and/or enhancing sanitation procedures to address gaps as necessary.
  • Provide overall direction for the team support monitor and assess individual work according to high standards of excellence. Provide feedback coaching support development opportunities complete performance appraisals take corrective action when appropriate and participate in hiring decisions.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four-year college degree from an accredited institution in physical science or related science discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience managing a team.
  • Experience in manufacturing quality.
  • Understanding of quality principles & quality techniques.
  • Basic understanding of statistics & manufacturing process control.
  • Lead auditor preferred
  • Ability to work effectively across functions
  • Able to leverage interpersonal skills to form strong relationships / build networks to drive results
  • Proactively recommend and/or take actions to solve technical issues or improve ways of working
  • Excellent communication analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work effectively across functions
