POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Informatics/Medication Support Analyst Paragon Center of Excellence (COE) implements strategies focused on adoption of specific Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and point-of-care technology processes by physicians clinicians and others at Lifepoints facilities by actively collaborating with ITS Quality and others at the Health Support Center (HSC) to assure clinical processes and workflows are supported by the electronic position also assists in the design and implementation of medication management processes and related technology and will work directly with hospitals configuring settings in the EMR pharmacy system(s) reviewing processes training testing and go-live as well as ongoing support.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: To perform this job an individual must perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.

Work closely with the Director of Paragon COE Paragon COE team and peers to provide core system expertise and assistance as needed to successfully implement patient data automation and work through the system life cycle.

Assist with change management efforts around the implementation of clinical informatics software through the development design and execution of change management and enhancement processes.

Assist with the ongoing design and implementation of the clinical informatics software to enable the process of care in hospitals.

Assist with monitoring new system setup and training to ensure adherence with enterprise-wide operational regulatory and clinical process guidelines.

Assist with the definition of content build and training needs for system enhancements clinical documentation and quality and patient safety initiatives.

Assure industry and evidence based best practice will be implemented wherever possible to support the highest standard of care meet regulatory requirements and improve patient outcomes by working through the facility Chief Nursing Officer local clinical leaders and pharmacy management.

Engage facility pharmacy staff vendors and others both from HSC and the individual facilities to support the use of the technology and information contained in the clinical information systems.

Create orientation programs for clinical staff related to changes in documentation systems and other clinical technology solutions.

Provide enhancement request identification documentation and prioritization as well as efforts to reduce variation of clinical processes throughout the enterprise.

Provide hands on assistance and support to facilities in all phases of high stakes initiatives such as CPOE Barcoded Medication Administration (BCMA) medication standardization physician documentation etc.

Engage with hospitals as they prepare for implementation of CPOE physician documentation promoting interoperability requirements medication standardization electronic prescribing etc. to ensure the processes and system functionality are working effectively and/or to identify areas that require refinement.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Exhibit an understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g. HIPAA). Skilled in the application of policies and procedures. Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices.

Education:

RN required. BSN or MSN- Clinical Informatics preferred.

Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT)

Experience:Minimum 5 years of experience of relevant work experience.

Skills and Abilities:

Moderate Computer Skills -- Frequent use of electronic mail word processing data entry spreadsheets graphics etc. Ability to create maintain and incorporate simple functions into documents spreadsheets databases and presentations to support business objectives.

Moderate Communication -- Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional areas interact with others and make presentations to department or middle management.

Routine Business Problems -- Problems encountered are routine somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.

Works in well-lit ventilated and climate controlled office environment with routine office equipment; some equipment has moving mechanical parts.

In hospital environment may be exposed to hazards and unusual elements which may include but are not limited to bloodborne pathogens and / or contagious illnesses toxic chemicals and biohazardous materials which may require extensive safety precautions and the use of protective equipment.

Noise level in the work environment is typical for an office and/or hospital environment.

Minimum overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
