Title:District Secretary (210-225 days/year)
Reports to: Principal or Director
Supervises:None
Position Purpose
Under the direction of the principal to provide administrative assistance conveying information regarding school functions and procedures; and supporting the broad array of services provided to students parents instructional and support employees.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
- Composes documents (e.g. notices correspondence bulletins reports newsletter handbooks) for the purpose of requesting or providing information about school and work-related matters activities events etc.
- Maintains documents files and records for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance.
- Maintain inventories of supplies and materials.
- Assists and responds to inquiries from students parents teaching staff and others in a professional manner.
- Manages daily communication including phone calls email faxes incoming mail and outgoing mail.
- Evaluates situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.
- Maintains the student information management system at the building site (attendance discipline and other records).
- Assists students who need medical attention/supplies when the school nurse is not available.

- Ability to process paperwork and electronic reports accurately according to standardized procedures.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students employees and others.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of office and district procedures.
Qualifications Profile
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Associates degree with course work in business math word processing office procedures and record keeping preferred.
- Successful secretarial and/or office experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Bending carrying climbing lifting driving pushing pulling reaching sitting standing and walking.

Varied.
Terms of Employment
Nine month contract with salary and benefits established annually by the Board.
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy 411.7 Classified Employee Evaluation.
