We are seeking a Quality System Engineer to support and enhance site-level quality systems while serving as the primary contact for pass-through product quality and compliance. This role is critical in driving continuous improvement supporting internal and external audits managing scrap reporting and ensuring alignment with customer-specific requirements and industry standards such as IATF 16949.
Serve as the primary customer contact for pass-through products overseeing APQP PPAP issue resolution and warranty analysis/reporting
Manage and communicate customer-specific requirements across the organization
Coordinate internal 8D and A3 problem-solving activities; track progress ensure completion and report results to management
Act as Scrap Coordinator for the USMRP1 GA site supporting weekly corporate dashboard updates and collaborating with plant leadership on scrap reduction strategies
Assist in the development and tracking of site and customer PPM metrics in collaboration with the Quality Director
Partner with cross-functional teams to maintain and improve electronic quality systems and documentation
Support third-party and customer audits (e.g. IATF 16949 LPA) and help ensure continued compliance with certification requirements
Administer designated quality systems (e.g. document control layered process audits)
Drive quality system initiatives and support the achievement of site-wide quality goals
Travel as needed to support facility quality needs
Perform other related duties as assigned
Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree in a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality systems preferably in an automotive manufacturing environment
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of IATF 16949 quality management systems and auditing practices
Familiarity with industry core tools: APQP PFMEA Control Plan PPAP SPC MSA
Experience with precision measuring tools (e.g. calipers micrometers CMM vision systems)
Auditor certification preferred
Soft Skills & Competencies:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven leadership and interpersonal skills; able to work across departments and with international teams
Exceptional problem-solving and project management capabilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Motivates and leads cross-functional teams toward shared goals
Self-directed with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
Tools & Software:
Proficiency in Minitab Microsoft Excel (data analysis and charting) PowerPoint and Word
This position has supervisory responsibilities and will oversee assigned staff or functional areas as needed.
Primarily office-based with occasional time spent on the shop floor
Must be able to sit for extended periods; occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs may be required
Manufacturing areas may require use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including steel toe shoes
Facilities are climate-controlled; noise levels are generally moderate
