What You Will Do:

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support the development procurement sustainment and modification of U.S. Air Force (USAF) aircraft systems. This role involves applying engineering expertise across the full lifecycle of weapon systems with a focus on airworthiness certification system integration and performance improvement. The candidate will support both technical and programmatic activities to ensure compliance with USAF standards and mission requirements.

  • Apply DoD Air Force and engineering principles to enhance performance and sustainability of weapon systems

  • Support airworthiness certification using MIL-HDBK-516C and ensure compliance with AFPD 62-6 AFIs and Airworthiness Bulletins

  • Assist with System Integrity Programs including Mechanical Systems Integrity Program (MECSIP) Critical Safety Item (CSI) tracking and flight authorizations.

  • Translate user requirements into system-level specifications and acquisition documentation such as Requests for Proposal (RFPs) Capability Development Documents (CDDs) Capability Production Documents (CPDs) and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS)

  • Conduct technical and mission analyses trade studies and rapid response engineering for supportability issues

  • Support system safety engineering including mishap risk assessments and resolution of high-priority safety issues

  • Participate in design reviews and working groups such as System Requirements Review (SRR) Preliminary Design Review (PDR) Critical Design Review (CDR) Test Readiness Review (TRR) Technical Coordination Meeting (TCM) Technical Interchange Meeting (TIM) Functional Configuration Audit (FCA) Physical Configuration Audit (PCA) Production Readiness Review (PRR) and Program Management Review (PMR)

  • Evaluate contractor recommendations software/hardware deficiencies and support Earned Value Management (EVM) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) development

  • Support configuration data and risk management processes and plans

  • Assist in the development of acquisition strategies technical evaluations and milestone documentation

  • Ensure compliance with Operational Safety Suitability and Effectiveness (OSS&E) and Life Cycle Systems Engineering (LCSE) policies and processes

What You Will Need:

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD SECRET security clearance; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of clearance prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.

  • Bachelors degree

  • FIFTEEN (15) years of experience in systems engineering; FIVE (5) years must be in the DoD; a Masters degree may be used in lieu of TWO (2) years of experience

  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition lifecycle and technical documentation


What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED SECRET Federal or DoD securityclearance

  • Familiarity with digital engineering toolssuch as Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Systems Modeling Language (SysML) or Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)

  • Experience with advanced technologies digital thread/digital twin concepts

  • Understanding of cybersecurity and information assuranceas it relates to airworthiness and system certification

  • Hands-on experience with aircraft modification programs

  • Experience supporting source selections or proposal evaluationsfor major defense acquisition programs

  • DAU Certifications: Engineering & Technical Management (ETM) Program Management etc

  • Strong analytical communication and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively with government and contractor team

The annual salary range for this position is $89000.00-$148000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill sets experience and training security clearances licensure and certifications and other business and organizational needs.
